In Genesis when the Sabbath was instituted who was it for? Jews? There were no Jews therefore the Sabbath was not for Jews.
And so the whole universe was completed. By the seventh day God finished what he had been doing and stopped working. He blessed the seventh day and [hallowed meaning - set it apart for Holy use KJV] set it apart as a special day, because by that day he had completed his creation and stopped working. (Genesis 2:1-3 GNT )
Some persons argue that the law was given at Sinai therefore there was no law before the Sinai, consequently the Sabbath was not observed. If there was no law then there would be no sin. There was plenty of sin even in the garden so it suggests that the law was in existence of which the Sabbath rest principle is a part.
Sunday is mentioned 8 times in the New Testament. 6 times is mentioned in relation to the resurrection of Jesus Christ [Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:2,9; Luke 24:1; john20:1,19] The last two are claimed to be religious meetings [Acts 20:7 and 1 Corinthians 16:2]. Let us examine the biblical evidence
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. (Acts 20:7 KJV)
Nowhere does this text indicate that the first day of the week is a day for worship. Paul preached and continued till midnight but is this indicative of Gods day set apart for worship? No. Christians today meet on Wednesdays for bible study, Fridays for youth meetings, in fact they meet almost any day for fellowship and service but this does not mean that it is God’s day that He sanctified and hallowed [set apart for holy use]. Some also suggest that this day is a communion service but there is not enough evidence to support that claim.
Let’s consider the next text.
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. (1 Corinthians 16:2)
Again nowhere is mentioned that Sunday is the Day God set apart for worship. What is the text saying?
On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. (1 Corinthians 16:2 NIV)
On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. (1 Corinthians 16:2 NKJV)
On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come. (1 Corinthians 16:2 ESV)
It appears from comparing the above versions that the Apostle Paul was talking about taking collections and laying them up rather that suggesting a day of worship.
The following texts prove that the Sabbath was observed after the crucifixion of Christ [Luke 23:58, Acts 13: 42-44, 15:21, etc.]

If the Sabbath was determined by the amount of times it was observed [rather than God setting it apart as a special day to Himself] then Saturday wins hands down to Sunday.
