While the caption may seem a bit humourous is it all that fictitious? Are we on the road to a one world government and if so what are the pros and the cons? If the cons out weight the pros can we do something to avoid it?
More importantly, what does the bible say about an end-time confederacy or union?
Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Isaiah 8:12
There is in a union or one world govenment the idea that the individual must be subjected to the greater good of the masses or the popular thinking of the time. What determines this greater good? The majority. It has often been said 300 frnech men can not be wrong. It has also been said do not follow a multitude to do evil. Which has greater weight? Of course in our secular society the answer is the majority, Where does that leave the Christian?
The Word of God has already said that we are in the middle of a great conflict over the character and government of God. Satan has sought to invest in our creator all the attributes of his own evil nature and has been successful. Hence, many persons look upon God as arbitrary, vengeful, unforiving and severe. To many, He is a God to be feared rather than loved. Even sincere Christians can not square the God of the old Testament to the God of the New.
In the final battle against the people of God the 144 000 will show the universe that God is love (agape) but they will do so under the most fearsome persecutory pressure from satan. As we approach that time we must not yield our freedom of conscience or religion to the popular calls and assaults on the scriptures. The battle lines are beig drawn .... which side are you on?
