Summary of Daniel 2
God gave Nebuchadnezzar a dream where he saw the kingdoms of the world presented before him in a way he could understand. God wanted to make Nebuchadnezzar see His power and through His prophet come closer to a knowledge of God. He saw a great image: Head of Gold; Chest and arms of silver; Belly and thighs of brass; Legs of iron and Feet and toes of Iron and Clay (Daniel 2:31-33).
A stone struck the image and broke it in pieces, then it became a great mountain and filled the whole earth (Daniel 2:34,35).
Daniel's Interpretation
- Head of gold is Babylon (Daniel 2:32,36-38)
- Silver is Medo Persia (Daniel 2:32,3; 5:25-31, 8:20)
- Brass is Greece (Daniel 2:33, 40, Luke 2:1)
- Fourth Kingdom was to be divided (Daniel 2:33, 41-43, 7:23,24)
- The stone Kingdom is Gods Kingdom, which will be established on earth after the fall of all other earthly kingdoms. (Daniel 2:34, 35,44,45)
Conclusion
God gave the prophecy to Nebuchadnezzar in order that the king might be saved and to advance the truth in the Great Controversy. Satan was trying to establish his false system while God was establishing true principles.
